Join APDAWG & Naturewatch Foundation this National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month for Breaking the Link: Protect Animals. Protect People.
All too often, animal abuse & domestic abuse go hand in hand. But whilst the animal-human violence link has been acknowledged for at least 250 years & is well established in academic research, it's too often overlooked by our criminal justice system.
This leads to opportunities to protect both animals & people being missed & the consequences can be tragic.
This year, Naturewatch Foundation expanded its Protect Animals. Protect People campaign to raise awareness about the Link amongst criminal justice & public protection personnel & to lobby for improvements to UK criminal justice policy.
Now, APDAWG & Naturewatch Foundation are teaming up this year's National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month (Oct) to raise awareness about the animal-human violence link amongst MPs & policy-makers, plus campaign for change.
Join us & a fantastic panel for the next APDAWG meeting to discuss why the Link matters & the steps we need to take to break the Link. As well as representatives from Naturewatch, our inspirational speakers include:
- Sarah Carr (Naturewatch Foundation);
- Maya Badham (Independent Specialist);
- Christina Warner (33 Bedford Row);
- David Martin (IVC Evidensia, Links Group & veterinary expert witness).
- Jason Fletcher (RSPCA);
- Gilly Mendes-Ferreira (Scottish SPCA);
- Laura Saunders (Dogs Trust Freedom Project);
- Sam Billingham (SODA - Survivors of Domestic Abuse).
As always, spaces are very limited for this event & we can't guarantee everyone a seat so please only register your interest in attending if you can definitely attend. Email events@naturewatch.org to request a place.
