Canine fertility clinics: the hot topic on UK dog lovers’ minds. A product of pandemic & public demand for increasingly extreme looking dogs, there’s now several hundred businesses throughout the UK that are selling assisted canine breeding procedures.
A typical fertility clinic advertises services such as artificial insemination, progesterone or cytology ovulation testing, ultrasound pregnancy scanning & semen services, including collection, analysis & shipping.
Whilst there are some specialist reproduction vets providing these services out of registered vet practices, the majority of canine fertility clinics are operated by people with no vet training or credentials, raising serious welfare & ethical questions.
Especially worrying is the indiscriminate use of artificial insemination to breed from dogs who cannot physically mate or give birth naturally & the long-term impact such irresponsible breeding decisions will have on adult dogs & their offspring.
Join us, Naturewatch Foundation & some very special guest speakers to learn more about the rapid growth of this new sector, why the animal welfare & vet communities are concerned & most importantly what needs to be done to protect dogs from the many risks posed by low welfare & illegal clinics.
The event is FREE but places are limited so booking is essential.
