APDAWG Presents: The State of UK Rescue

Tues 25 Feb 2025, 5.30-7.30pm, Committee Room 14, Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London.

After APDAWG's last two hugely popular 'State of UK Rescue' Feb events, which both proudly filled the biggest Committee Room in the UK Houses of Parliament, we will once again looking at the many issues & factors influencing today's UK rescue sector & most importantly finding practical ways forward.

From the ongoing hangover of abandoned pandemic pups to a seemingly never-ending cost-of-living crisis, plus the increasingly compromised mental health of rescue shelter staff & volunteers, the no. of greyhounds currently 'stuck' in the system awaiting spaces at rehoming centres; there's clearly still so much that needs support, improving & fixing.

Worryingly, dog rescue in the UK remains in a state never seen before, so ADAWG is, once again, truly honoured to be joined by some of the most respected voices from across the sector, generously sharing their experiences past & present, plus discussing possible future solutions to these important issues in the Q&A.

Guest Speakers

Becky Thwaites (The Blue Cross)

Christina Marriott (Jerry Green Rescue)

Tara Cunningham (Causeway Coast Dog Rescue)

Lizzy Brown (German Shepherd Rescue Elite)

Natalia George (Flori’s Friends Rescue)

Emma Billington & Suzanne Hughes (Dogs 4 Rescue)

Jenna Miller (Spirit of the Dog Rescue)

This meeting, plus the social after, will also be an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow advocates, rescue workers, professionals & enthusiasts to collaborate, share experiences & make progress together.

Plus, as is now becoming the norm, we'll be joined by another very special celebrity dog loving co-host & rescue advocate!

Thanks again to generous sponsors Agria Pet Insurance, we will all be able to continue these important conversations after the event at a nearby bar with drinks & food.

As always, APDAWG event registration is first come first served. Plus, it'll most likely be another hugely popular meeting, so please only reserve a place if you can definitely attend, thank you.
